What am I focusing on?
Martin’s testimony (1)
What am I focusing on?
Why God allows us to be hurt?
Have you ever wondered why God allows us to be hurt?
When I was young, I experienced situations that I didn’t understand. For example, my wife and I experienced times when we had to pray we’d find food for our next meal. At the time, as a pastor, I was convinced that I was meant to simply serve Jesus without charging anything for each service. I experienced the lack of generosity of Christians.
But why, I thought, does Jesus allow us to lack? Why doesn’t He step in immediately to provide for our needs?
He wanted to show us His closeness
Well! He wanted to show us His closeness when we are in need. The verse in Matthew 6:34 that says,
“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself” has become a mantra that we live by.
How to prioritize
This Bible passage complements the previous verse:
“Seek first the kingdom and the righteousness of God, and all these things shall be added on to you”.
This verse showed me how to prioritize: my insecurities, wounds, needs or shortcomings do not come first, but the main thing is His goodness, His mercy and His provision.
